Artists in Residence Printmaking

Artists in Residence Printmaking

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE – PRINTMAKING

South Hill Park Arts Centre, based in an 18th Century mansion in Bracknell, requires two Artists in Residence to manage our well-equipped Print Room which houses a Columbian Press, a litho press and an etching press. Our updated Acid Room, with extraction facilities, will be operational by the start of our new term in September. Artists in Residence will have access to the print room outside teaching hours and will share the responsibilities for ordering stock, health and safety procedures and simple maintenance of equipment. The residency is initially for a one year period, with the possibility of extending for another year. Artists in Residence will have an opportunity to exhibit work created during the residency in our main Bracknell Gallery.

We require Artists in Residence who are inspiring, enthusiastic and energetic teachers to support our dedicated, talented and experienced students, some of whom also exhibit their work at the venue. We currently run regular, ten week printmaking courses on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays but we hope to expand our course provision from September 2010. We also offer occasional weekend specialist workshops.

We are keen to programme a variety of courses, teaching beginners through to expert, and welcome applications from printmakers who can teach one specialism as well as those who teach multi-disciplinary printmaking. However, we do not have screen printing facilities and are unlikely to do so in the future. Although the residency is unpaid, the Artists in Residence receive payment for teaching our courses at a rate of £20.39 per hour.

Please send your cv, a statement about your current work and no more than five images, to [email protected] by 31st July. Interviews will take place in mid-late August and teaching commences from 20 th September. Please see our website at www.southhillpark.org.uk for details of our full programme which includes Printmaking Summer School from Monday 12 July to Friday 16 July 2010 with Sue Baker and Hen Coleman.
