<p>Extern Organisation Job description and person specification Project Worker, LINX</p><p>Section 1: Key job parameters</p><p>PROGAMME/PROJECT: LINX Project DESCRIPTION: LINX provides services to “at risk” (Hardiker level 3 & 4) young people aged 13-17 inclusive, and their carers, in need of a high level of individual support, delivered within an individual and group context.</p><p>JOB TITLE: Project Worker</p><p>LOCATION: LINX Project SET</p><p>ACCOUNTABLE TO: Project Manager</p><p>ACCOUNTABLE FOR: Volunteers/Student Placements</p><p>JOB PURPOSE: To provide services to “at risk” (Hardiker level 3 & 4) young people aged 13-17 inclusive, and their carers, in need of a high level of individual support, delivered within an individual and group context.</p><p>The Project Worker will be required to offer all aspects of the LINX Service as part of a team. S/he will work in close partnership with statutory agencies, community resources and the young person’s family. in line with:</p><p>(a) Extern’s vision, mission and values; (b) Extern’s Standards of Business Conduct (c) the legal and best practice standards relating applicable to post; and, (d) the requirements of contracts and service level agreements with commissioning and funding partners</p><p>Page 1 of 4 June 2012 Extern Organisation Job description and person specification Project Worker, LINX</p><p>Section 2: Job description </p><p>1. Managing risk: risk management at the core of practice and management </p><p>The Project Worker will be responsible for: </p><p>1.1 Completing lone working risk assessments at the commencement of each case and at regular intervals throughout the work with service users and reviewing them with management.</p><p>1.2 Completing activity risk assessments and agreeing the risk management strategy with line management before each activity.</p><p>1.3 Ensuring that all centres used are on the current approved centres list before use.</p><p>1.4 Adhering to all Extern standards relating to managing risk.</p><p>2. Managing quality: providing quality services </p><p>The Project Worker will be responsible for:</p><p>2.1 Delivering direct service to meet the assessed needs of individuals using the service i.e. the young people, their families, referral agents and stakeholders Ensure own practice meets agreed quality standards and relevant codes of practice/best practice which will assist continuous improvement within the LINX project.</p><p>2.2 Planning, agreeing and providing services which actively engage, at an operational practice level, those young people and carers who avail of the LINX Service.</p><p>3. Managing resources: people, money, physical assets and information</p><p>The Project Worker will be responsible for:</p><p>3.1 Efficiently and effectively managing the use, maintenance and security of all the physical resources used in relation to your own and others work within the LINX project (while on duty and in the absence of project manager).</p><p>Page 2 of 4 June 2012 Extern Organisation Job description and person specification Project Worker, LINX</p><p>3.2 Contributing to the identification of capacity requirements</p><p>3.3 Assisting with the selection of volunteers</p><p>3.4 Contributing to the induction of volunteers/placements/trainees involved in the project and supporting the induction of Extern staff.</p><p>3.5 Identifying the learning needs of volunteers/placements/trainees</p><p>3.6 Managing, leading and developing volunteers/placements/trainees working within the project.</p><p>3.7 Acting as a keyholder as required and secure buildings after use.</p><p>3.8 Recording weekly operating budget for activity/programme costs, including making decisions about the use of agreed petty cash/service budget.</p><p>3.9 Supporting income generation activities as requested by line manager.</p><p>3.10 Awareness and compliance with relevant health and safety legislation/ organisational policy and procedures regarding health & safety, in particular when young people are in your care and with regard to self and others, (in particular where outdoor pursuits are offered).</p><p>4. Managing communications: internal and external communication</p><p>The Project Worker will be responsible for:</p><p>4.1 Developing, negotiating and initiating, in partnership with referral agents and appropriate others, a programme which delivers tailored support to the young people referred, e.g. through focused individual work and/or residentials.</p><p>4.2 Seeking and providing feedback in relation to referrers, stakeholders and clients, through formal/informal reviews which will inform programme design.</p><p>4.3 Building effective working relationships with Extern colleagues and external stakeholders.</p><p>4.4 Maintain accurate records and provide comprehensive reports as and when required.</p><p>Page 3 of 4 June 2012 Extern Organisation Job description and person specification Project Worker, LINX</p><p>5. Miscellaneous </p><p>5.0 Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by your Line Manager within your competencies.</p><p>Section 3: Person specification </p><p>1. Qualifications/Experience</p><p>1.1 Essential Criteria</p><p>The successful candidate must have:</p><p>Minimum of 4 GCSE’s (Grade C or above) including English Language or equivalent e.g. NVQ Level II or qualification in child care/youth work</p><p>Registered or in the process of registering with the NISCC</p><p>Minimum of 2 years cumulative relevant experience working directly with 13-17 year olds who have the potential to exhibit very challenging behaviours.</p><p>Full driving licence and access to a car with motor insurance that stipulates your vehicle can be used in connection with your business. (Please note this criteria will be waived in the case of an applicant whose disability prohibits driving but who is able to demonstrate their ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post)</p><p>1.2 Desirable Criteria</p><p>Experience of providing support for parents/ carers of young people with complex needs in a structured environment.</p><p>Professional Qualification in Social Work/Youth & Community Work or hold a relevant Social Science Degree</p><p>Extern reserves the right to reasonably alter the above criteria.</p><p>For further information on services visit the Extern Website: www.extern.org</p><p>Page 4 of 4 June 2012</p>
