Our country needs us. The forces of hate, mistrust and division are growing with chilling consequences. Now is the time for liberals across the UK to rise up and speak out with a collective voice that paints a positive, inclusive and open vision. Now is the time for the Liberal Democrats. The Conservatives are intent on destroying our country through their reckless dash for Brexit and the Labour party are intent on destroying themselves. It is the Liberal Democrats – the strongest Remain party – that must speak the loudest and clearest, not for ourselves but for the communities we represent and the country we love. Brexit is the totemic issue of our time: it threatens everything that we love, value and cherish. But Brexit is just one symptom of the poisonous politics that is festering in our country. We need to be winning not just elections, but hearts and minds. We need to be building a new liberal movement with a strong Liberal Democrats at its heart. Together, we can do this. Page 4 Directory Liberal Democrats Autumn Conference 2019 Clearprint FEATURE Together, we will unite the forces of Remain, we will reach out to the millions of small ‘l’ liberals who find themselves without a political home. Together, we will reach out to those that have been abandoned by the ideological dogma of Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour, to those left behind by the radical right-wing takeover of the Conservatives and those that have been deserted by the SNP’s obsession with breaking up the United Kingdom. Together, we will stop Brexit. We will reach out to communities that have never heard a liberal voice and we will speak up for them. Whether you’re a gay teenager growing up in Cornwall, a single parent who recently immigrated to Manchester, or a minimum-wage worker barely getting by in Glasgow, I want you to know that the Liberal Democrats have your back. We will fight with everything we have for you and your communities, we will fight for the Britain we believe in. Now is the time for liberals to rise up and unite. Now is the time to build a new liberal movement. Now is the time for the Liberal Democrats.
