<p> Story 22-3.0-H Lessons</p><p>*Each classroom has modifications made to accommodate those students, for every lesson. Modifications in some classrooms are to make the assignment more rigorous and challenging while other modifications will include reading material to students, alternative assignments, individualized help, shortened assignments, defining vocabulary with students on the board, test material is read to the class, and using notes and/or textbook for both formative and summative test.</p><p>Monday- “Yippee-Yay” Harcourt Trophies Reading Book * Vocabulary Power-Read the Vocabulary Power passage then ask students to use the text to figure out what each vocabulary word means. *Students will use the glossary to write a definition for each word. Then the student must come up with an example sentence for each word. *When finished students begin independently reading the story. Assignment-Finish defining the vocabulary words and example sentences. Practice Book (p.29) *I can correctly use my new vocabulary words.</p><p>Tuesday- “Yippee-Yay” Harcourt Trophies Reading Book *Check the vocabulary words and example sentences. *Read the story independently. *Students must complete a comprehension worksheet and include page numbers showing where they found the answer. Must be answered using complete sentences. Assignment-Comprehension questions with page numbers. *I can answer questions to demonstrate comprehension.</p><p>Wednesday- “Yippee-Yay” *Collect the comprehension questions *Oral reading- the students will take turns reading the story out loud. We will stop at specific places in the story to discuss large words that they may not recognize or understand, important literary elements, devices, details, or teachable moments. Throughout the story I will also use several questioning strategies to check for understanding and comprehension from the students. *I can read orally with accuracy, expression, and at the right speed. Thursday- “Yippee-Yay” Skill Focus-Main Idea and Supporting Details Harcourt Trophies Reading Book *www.studyisland.com *www.prometheanplanet.com * We will use the promethean planet flipchart for the story. The flipchart contains games, short video segments, audio, trivia, diagrams, illustrations, photos, and other high quality educational material for the Harcourt Trophies series stories. The flipcharts are fun, but very core content driven. The flipcharts cover both the vocabulary words and the actual comprehension of the story itself. Assignment-Study for the test tomorrow. Read the story to your guardian(s). Study the vocabulary words and the meaning of the vocabulary words. *I can summarize a story by telling only the most important parts. *Assignment-Parents sign the reading log.</p><p>Friday- “Yippee-Yay” Harcourt Trophies Reading Book *Review the vocabulary one last time *Review the story one last time *Vocabulary Test *Reading Comprehension Test</p>
