<p> NCES Governing Council Meeting Minutes- January 17, 2013 9086 Cty Hwy. K Harshaw, WI 54529 (715)282-8200</p><p>Attendance: Jane Pierce(Co-president), Pat Miller (GC member), Jay Joppa(NCES principal), Chris Young (GC member), Tami Marten(Co-president), Jen Benes (Secretary)</p><p>I. Meeting called to order</p><p> a. Approve agenda Motion: Pierce/Miller All Ayes</p><p>Notes on last meeting are not available at this moment. Pierce will get meeting notes from last meeting to Marten. </p><p> b. Current events/Updates</p><p> Benes will be getting a student teacher for duration of rest of year. </p><p> New doorbell and key card entrances at all doorways. Doors are locked all day</p><p> Discussed if referendum passes to pursue getting a chain link fence between parking lot and playground and a wall in entranceway for another safety precaution</p><p> Keys will be passed out to substitutes for another safety precaution. Carrie Ketter is working on getting spare keys for all rooms.</p><p> NWEA testing and PALS testing is occurring right now. </p><p> February 5th is an informational meeting sponsored by district, hosted at NCES. It is open to the public. 5:00-6:00 pm. PAC would like to host a spaghetti feed prior to this (4:00-5:00). They would also like to possibly do public service announcements and some video to inform others of the referendum and impact on our school.</p><p> February 12th 1:00 Project Presentation Day. Chris Young is willing to make chili for that day so people could eat beforehand. Joppa recommended asking PAC to assist with financial cost. </p><p>II. Unfinished Business a. Letters of Intent for 2012-13 Letters were passed to members present. Letters not yet collected need to be given at next meeting (Heidi Rich and Sherri Gaber)</p><p>III. New Busines</p><p> a. Sustainability discussion- Preliminary Budget Cuts- Young and Pierce discussed referendum meetings. Very positive feel and many people are stepping up to help. Seems well organized. </p><p> b. PBIS- Governing Council assistance MOTION: Marten/Benes Governing Council will be involved in looking at data from SWIS to advise and get assistance when known problems arise. All ayes; Motion passed</p><p> c. Letter from Staff to NCES GC regarding GC support - Many items on the list for support were deemed to be more appropriate for the role that PAC. Joppa shared that PAC is willing to help out in any way. It was discussed how they many need more parent support/involvement. What ways can PAC and Governing Council and Staff become more cohesive? We will invite PAC to next meeting. Marten and Benes will inform PAC and staff of Future meeting date and invite all. </p><p>IV. Public Comments- None</p><p>V. Future Meeting Dates – February 21st at 2:35. </p><p>VI. Adjourn-- Motion: Benes/ Miller All ayes Meeting adjourned at 5:55 pm</p>
