<p> Workforce Diversity sub-committee Teleconference August 22, 2005</p><p>Minutes</p><p>Members in attendance: Judge Deborah D. Fleck, chairperson, Ms. Bonnie Glenn, Dean Sandra Madrid, Ms. Sudha Shetty, Jeffrey C. Sullivan, Ms. Brenda E. Williams, and Ms. Erica Chung and Monto Morton as staff.</p><p>Not in attendance: Ms. Yemi Fleming Jackson, Judge James Murphy, Ms. Karen Murray, and Tony Orange. </p><p>I. Next meeting schedule: Next sub-committee meeting will occur during the Commission on Friday, October 28, in Seattle. </p><p>II. National Speaker—address and reception Erica reported that she confirmed with Mr. Robert J. Grey, Jr.’s office on his willingness to participate in a reception, in addition to the Fall 2005 Judicial Conference. She also reported that Dean Kellye Testy with the Seattle University School of Law has agreed to host the reception at the law school. </p><p>Event: Reception for Robert J. DIVERSIFYING THE BENCH At the last meeting Judge Fleck stated that Dean Testy, Seattle University Law School is willing to take the project initiated by the sub-committee. It was recommended at the last meeting that the Guide could follow a similar format as the Glass Ceiling Task Force Report. It was decided that Bonnie Glenn, Brenda Williams and Erica Chung will meet to discuss the submitted materials and discuss next steps such as formatting, timeline, editing. </p><p>To do: Erica: send a copy of the letter to sub-committee members Shetty: has volunteered to find a legal writing editor once the guide has been assembled</p><p>IV. YOUTH AND JUSTICE FORUM Erica reported that the Seattle Youth and Law Forum organizers/host organization was reimburse in late July for supplies and materials by the Commission. She stated that Judge Yule with the Outreach sub-committee is moving forward with the planning process for the Tri-Cities Youth and Justice Forum scheduled for March 2006 with an initial meeting occurring on Friday, August 19. Erica also stated that Judge Yule is interested in expanding the Forum to other areas, starting with Spokane. She stated that this would mean the Commission may not support the Seattle Forum since some members have stated a desire to limit the number of forums. Sub-committee participants expressed a support for a Forum in Spokane and Bonnie Glenn volunteered her services to help with the planning. </p><p>V. Projects and Budget Externship—this item was tabled until the next meeting. Resource Directory—this item was tabled until the next meeting. </p>
