<p> <<Program Name>> Family-School-Community Partnerships Position Description </p><p>Project goals and position description The overall goal of <<program name>> is to improve student achievement in low-income and underserved schools, thereby helping to close the achievement gap between low-income and minority students and their peers. The project utilizes AmeriCorps*VISTA members in the following capacities: To develop and expand ongoing collaborative partnerships between schools and their respective families and communities To involve families in learning at home, volunteering, communication with teachers and administrators, and decision-making processes that affect students’ education To facilitate an action team for partnerships that designs, implements, and sustains partnership practices To educate faculty, students, and parents on the benefits of service earning</p><p>Expected skills and qualifications of AmeriCorps*VISTA members College degree and previous community service Excellent oral and written communication skills Willingness to take initiative to promote partnerships Entrepreneurial skills (to seek funding) Relationship building, teamwork, and leadership skills Patience, willingness to learn, and open mindedness to differing perspectives and ideas Excellent organizational skills Commitment to the mission of the project and its impact on schools and communities</p><p>Benefits for AmeriCorps*VISTA members Living allowance of <<amount/month>> Health benefits Child care, if eligible <<max. $____/month>> End-of-year cash stipend of <<amount>> or Education Award of <<amount>> <<personal time and sick time>> <<other benefits, such as relocation allowance, etc.>> </p><p>For more information <<Program contact information, including Web site, e-mail and phone number>></p><p>Contributed by Family-School-Community Partnerships (Madison WI).
