<p>The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde</p><p>Main Characters</p><p>Dr. Henry Jekyll A prominent middle-aged doctor who is both tall and handsome. He is extremely wealthy and is described as respected and proper. He believed that every human being had two sides GOOD AND EVIL and carried out experiments trying to separate the two. He however did not do it for scientific reasons but in order to escape the confining guise of the good Dr. Jekyll.</p><p>Edward Hyde He is a small, deformed, disgusting young man that is devoid of an apparent profession. Many descriptions of the horror provoked by his appearance have been given. He is often compared to animals implying that he is not a fully evolved human being. He menaces the society at night, trampled a girl in the street and even killed Sir Danvers Carew.</p><p>Mr. Utterson A middle-aged lawyer, Utterson is the narrator of the book. He is an old friend of Dr. Jekyll and observes the changes and strange occurrences that centre around both Jekyll and Hyde. He is a very circumspect, respected and rational person.</p><p>Richard Poole Dr. Jekyll’s faithful butler. It is he who goes to Mr.Utterson because of his concern for Dr. Jekyll and the mysterious occurrences in the basement of Dr. Jekyll’s residence.</p><p>Dr. Lanyon Dr. Lanyon is a former friend of Jekyll. Their friendship ended ten years ago due to some disagreement regarding scientific endeavors. A very respected and rational doctor he is a person who values truth and goodness above all. </p><p>Richard Enfield He is Mr. Utterson’s cousin and is considered to be slightly wilder than his sedate and respectable cousin. He is the one who witnesses Hyde’s initial crime.</p><p>Sir Danvers Carew A highly respected and prominent member of English society. He is described as “silver haired” and “gentle.”</p><p>Mr. Guest Mr. Utterson’s clerk at his office ; he discovers the handwriting similarity between the note written supposedly from Mr.Hyde but whose writing was Dr. Jekyll’s.</p><p>By Vaibhav Dua and Nabarun Kanti Pal</p>
