2009 Fran Sargent Scholarship

<p> 2009 FRAN SARGENT SCHOLARSHIP Florida Goldcoast Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc.</p><p>AMOUNT: Maximum of $2,000.00 to be used for an FAA certificate or rating, college program or other worthwhile aviation endeavor.</p><p>ELIGIBILITY: Open to any woman with at least a private pilot certificate who is a resident of Florida or a woman who is a private pilot currently enrolled in an aviation training program in Florida.</p><p>SELECTION CRITERIA: The recipient of the scholarship will be selected by a committee consisting of judges active in aviation. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final. If no qualified applicant applies, the Scholarship Committee reserves the right to withhold the scholarship.</p><p>Applications are judged on: Demonstration of financial need, desire to pursue a career in aviation and/or ability to be an ambassador representing women in aviation, likelihood of success at reaching your goals, and neatness & completeness of the application package.</p><p>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Write a letter describing your education, aviation training and experience, aviation organizations, employment and/or educational history. List activities in which you participate and organizations to which you belong (not necessarily just aviation oriented). </p><p>Include a statement of your educational purpose and/or aviation goals. Tell us about yourself, your goals and why you chose aviation, including special qualifications you may have. Indicate FAA certificate or rating, college degree or other goal that you will attain using this scholarship. </p><p>Describe your financial need and how you will meet the cost of attaining your goal beyond the scholarship funds. Indicate if spouse, parents or other individuals are contributing to your costs of training. Include your amount of income earned in 2008 and any other scholarships or grants earned in 2008 and 2009.</p><p>Provide two current letters of reference— at least one from an employer, instructor or other appropriate person. Include copies of your FAA certificates, ratings, last two pages of your logbook and other pertinent documents. Complete the two-page application. </p><p>DISBURSEMENTS OF FUNDS: Attainment of your stated goal must be completed by October 31, 2010. Two partial payments for expenses incurred may be provided before the final payment. The Sargent Scholarship Trustees of the Florida Goldcoast Chapter of the Ninety-Nines will be responsible for disbursing the funds. </p><p>Send completed application packet and 4 copies to be received by October 31, 2009, to: Ursula M.
