She is clothed in strength and dignity”; and 24 25 Whereas, in addition to providing an educational scholarship to the 26 pageant winner, this year’s Miss SC Pearls Scholarship Pageant 27 and Gala will benefit the South Carolina Coalition against 28 Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse and raise awareness about 29 domestic violence, which is an epidemic in South Carolina; and 30 31 Whereas, the Miss SC Pearls Scholarship Pageant and Gala will 32 instill in the young ladies, who are our next generation, that they 33 are pearls, and that they must demand respect at all times and not 34 accept verbal or physical abuse from anyone; and 35 36 Whereas, it has been determined that this event would be in the 37 public interest. Now, therefore, 38 39 Be it resolved by the Senate: 40 41 That the South Carolina Senate endorse the Miss SC Pearls 42 Scholarship Pageant and Gala and propose that this program will</p><p>[1218] 2 1 unite with other organizations to stamp out the epidemic of 2 domestic violence in our community and make a difference in the 3 lives of the citizens of South Carolina. 4 XX 5</p><p>[1218] 3</p>
