SAMPLE of Weekly Report

SAMPLE of Weekly Report

November 11, 2005

It has been a busy week in Wauchula. We were blessed to have a group of young, Mennonite ladies with us for the week. They were ready for a week of work in a soup kitchen in Miami but when the power was restored, they received word that there would be no need for their services. They were packed but had no where to go. As we had no short term volunteers booked for the week, we were open to having them come; we considered them an answer to our prayers. While some of the ladies took a turn in the kitchen, some tried their hands at mudding and taping, while 2 others tried dry walling a closet. Visualize this—2 young ladies, a step ladder, dry wall and a 2 x2 closet! It was a full afternoon and lots of laughs!

They also did an excellent job with TSP, paint & brushes and transformed the outside of Ms. Mary’s house. With the finishing touches done on the inside, it was time to celebrate with a home dedication on Friday morning. Following that special event, they headed back to PA, having experienced some exciting days! We so enjoyed having Eugene, Grace, Clarence, and Erla, and the young ladies. And they do have angels’ voices when it comes to music. Thank you all!

This week also saw us saying good bye to Grahame, Ryan and Kevin from Ontario. These young men were with us for 3 weeks. We feel they made some great contributions to the homes they worked on here in Wauchula. We wish them well as they continue searching out career opportunities. And when the week came to an end, Harold packed up his motor home and headed to Washington, D.C. Thank you for your contributions and the many poems you shared with us during your time here.

So we said many good byes, but that seems to be the way of MDS. We get to make so many new friends. We did welcome Tom for a three week stay. He will be our “plumber in residence” for the duration. And with his help, we have water flowing at many of the clients’ homes. Mr. Frank’s house has all the flooring in, the trim work completed, doors installed, shelving built, finish electrical completed, and the beginnings of kitchen cabinets. Mr. John’s home has had shelving installed, water heater installed and the siding work has begun. Al and Edith’s home passed inspection and was dry walled. Don and Rose’s home passed the dry wall inspection and mudding and taping has begun. Further prep work has been done on the 4 sites that are waiting for cement slabs poured. Our volunteer situation is good for the coming month, and we expect things to move along on all our job sites.

And the week ends with some attempt at R & R, be it golfing, garage sales, journaling or having that extra siesta, or heading for Siesta Beach. All the while we recognize that we are here for such a short time, serving the community, each other and Christ. Continue to keep us in your prayers.

In His Service: list names of project directors, office manager, and long termers

D:\Docs\2018-04-07\0639b4a64d18d8713a7db71ef6cdb08d.doc #25
