Inspecting and Interpreting Your Interpersonal Effectiveness Profile

The Interpersonal Effectiveness Profile is based on research studies on teamwork and effective leadership in a variety of settings and is empirically valid in the US and internationally.

The optimum location for each item is indicated by the X.

The X indicates the effective frequency for each trait, balanced over time, in natural groups.

Comparing your ratings to the optimum:

1. Recognize your ratings reflect how you expect to be seen – which may or may not be at the optimum location.

2. If you are either “too high” or “too low” by more than one interval on the scale this may be an indicator of a personal outlook or issue that is interfering with your interpersonal effectiveness.

3. Use the following guide to indicate those items you want to explore further. Place a “+” next to an item if you were too high, a “-“ if too low or a “!” if you expected to be seen at the optimum location.

1. 8. 15. 22. 2. 9. 16. 23. 3. 10. 17. 24. 4. 11. 18. 25. 5. 12. 19. 26. 6. 13. 20. 7. 14. 21.
