<p> “Wisdom In An Information Age” Small Group Questions Week of June 5th - June 11th Icebreaker: Has anyone ever said to you, “you have to experience it to understand it”? What were they referring to? (ex. visiting a beautiful place; or trying a new type of food)</p><p>Review: Last Summer Pastor Jim introduced a new series on the book of Proverbs. In a message called “Smart or Wise” Jim gave us a helpful definition of wisdom. “Wisdom is a combination of knowledge, discernment, and discipline that when applied to life’s circumstances results in the best possible action.” This Sunday Pastor Tony re-started our summer series on Proverbs by looking at Proverbs 4. We learned that the book of Proverbs places us as students at the feet of a teacher, and invites us to learn how to be wise apprentices. The book of Proverbs also calls us to attune (harmonize) our ways with God’s ways. Lastly, we learned that the book of Proverbs calls us to wholeness. God wants to transform every part of our life (our minds, our hearts, our emotions, and our actions). </p><p>Discussion Questions: 1. Proverbs is one of the least preached books in the Bible, but it is also one of the most well known books among non-Christians. What are some ways you have seen Proverbs used in popular culture? </p><p>2. How are wisdom and information different from one another? Why is relationship so important to growing in wisdom?</p><p>3. Throughout the book of Proverbs we encounter an image of two ways. One way leads to life, the other to death. One way is straight, the other is crooked. How can we take the way that leads to life? How do we know we are on that path? </p><p>4. In Proverbs 4:20-27, the author calls us to wholeness, he says essentially “keep my words in your heart.” How can we keep God’s word in our heart? </p><p>5. Pastor Tony shared with us what it is like to live in an Information Age. We are connected but alone; informed but without purpose; have abundance but feel empty. Why is information unfulfilling? How can growing in wisdom bring fulfillment into our lives? </p><p>6. Whose apprenticeship are you under? Who do you turn to, when you want to grow in the things of God? Why do you turn to them?</p>
