<p> FYI FYI FYI FYI F O R Y O U R I N F O R M A T I O N</p><p>INTERSTATE COMPACT ON THE PLACEMENT OF CHILDREN: PLACEMENTS IN ARKANSAS</p><p>Over the last several months, Arkansas has encountered an increasing number of children who are being placed in Arkansas by California in violation of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC). Therefore, effectively immediately, Arkansas will not accept any ICPC referrals from California without signed statements on official letterhead from the court and our Department. All referrals to Arkansas must contain both signed statements before the referral will be processed.</p><p>Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis whether to return to California any child who was sent to Arkansas or when California fails to return a child upon the request of Arkansas in violation of the Compact.</p><p>Attached is a copy of our Department's written statement. Signatures of the CSW, SCSW, the Director and the ICPC Liaison are required. The Juvenile Court has been notified of this Arkansas requirement. ANTONOVICH</p><p>TO: Arkansas ICPC Unit Child’s Name Child’s Date of Birth </p><p>The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services is considering placement of the above- named child with </p><p>(name and address of proposed caregiver)</p><p>In accordance with the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, which is the same law in both California and Arkansas, we hereby agree to the following conditions: (a) The child shall not be sent or brought to Arkansas until such time as our office has received written approval from the Arkansas ICPC office giving permission for placement to occur, AND (b) Our office has advised the court who has jurisdiction over the child that THE COURT MUST RETAIN JURISDICTION of the child during the time the child is in Arkansas until one of the following events occurs: (1) the child is adopted; or (2) the child reaches age of majority; or (3) the child becomes self-supporting: or (4) the Arkansas ICPC office gives written approval for the discharge of court jurisdiction over the child.
