------Original Message ------Subject: RE: FY2011 library books & media allocation for School of Education Date: Fri, 08 Oct 2010 15:45:48 -0400 From: Kate Pitcher <[email protected]> To: Keegan Kelly <[email protected]> CC: Osman L Alawiye <[email protected]>, Barbara F Clarke <[email protected]>

October 8, 2010

Dear Professor Keegan,

With Fall Break already here, the library is working on finalizing this year's budget allocations for materials. As you know, everyone is facing another tough financial year within SUNY and New York State, and at best, Milne Library's materials budget will once again remain flat. Therefore, the book and media allocations will be at last year's reduced levels, with a slight 4% increase to offset the monograph inflation rate predicted by our book vendors.

Your department's book and media allocation for FY 2010-2011 is _*$2,298.00*_. I recommend prioritizing your orders this year because of the limited allocations. As soon as you have requests, please submit them to our Acquisitions department through your IDS account at: https://illiad.lib.geneseo.edu/. If you have already been submitting requests, these purchases will be reflected on the first fund balance report in November. Please remember that all faculty members may make purchase recommendations through this online form, so if you have questions or concerns about monitoring your department's allocations effectively, please don't hesitate to contact me. I can easily set up a request queue so that all requests from your departmental colleagues are sent to you first for approval before further processing. If you set up such a request queue last year, it remains in effect for this new fiscal year.

_*Book/Media Ordering Deadlines*_ Because it is already October, ordering deadlines for this academic year will be as follows:

November 30 25% of your department's allocation should be spent January 15 50% of your department's allocation should be spent March 1 75% of your department's allocation should be spent April 15 100% of your department's allocation should be spent

Fund balance reports will be sent out two weeks prior to each deadline, so as to assist your decision-making with accurate allocation amounts. Any unencumbered funds after the April 15th deadline will be spent by Barbara Clarke ([email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>), the librarian liaison to your department.

Please let me know how I can be of assistance; if you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely yours, Kate

Katherine E. Pitcher Head of Technical Services & Collection Development Room 115B, Milne Library SUNY Geneseo [email protected] 585-245-5064 cc: Department Chair; Librarian liaison
