Swindon started the game with a near full-strength side while Didcot were missing striker Stuart Beavon, who had flu, and Andy Parrott with an ankle problem. The first chance of the game fell to Town’s James McKinney but after a neat piece of skill on the edge of the box his shot failed to hit the target. Supermarine did create a couple of chances themselves which keeper Chris Webb dealt with comfortably, but the home side posed the greatest threat in the opening half. Laurence Hoey almost bundled the ball home in the 20th minute following a good run and cross by Glyn Jones. Two minutes later Dave Green fired wide from a good position and in the last attack before the break Jones headed narrowly wide after Grant Goodall had crossed dangerously into the box. Supermarine looked a well organized outfit despite this being their first friendly fixture, but it wasn’t until the second half until they applied any pressure on the Didcot goal. Swindon’s Dave Gee naerly created their first goal in the 47th minute but Danny Campbell cleared the danger. Didcot did fall behind in the 52nd minute and there was a real pre-season friendly look about it. Under no pressure Webb attempted to roll the ball to a colleague. Unfortunately it cannoned off the unsuspecting Campbell, and then the ankle of Andy Cooper straight into the path of Gee who calmly fired home. Full credit to the home side however and Laurence Hoey capped a fine performance by crashing home the equalizer 7 minutes later.</p><p>Ian Concannon and Bradley Ward both came close for Didcot before Supermarine re- took the lead in the 69th minute. Simon Futcher showed plenty of composure to slot home from 12 yards giving Webb no chance. Hoey almost equalized immediately but Town deservedly levelled with 13 minutes left. Terry Morrisey delivered a superb cross into the box and substitute Chris Dore planted a pin-point header into the corner of the net.</p><p>DIDCOT: Webb, Goodall, Heapy, Cooper, Green, Ward, McKinney, Campbell, L Hoey, Jones, Concannon.
