I.C.T Feedback on Key Areas

I.C.T Feedback on Key Areas

I.C.T Feedback On Key Areas

Level 1 and 2

Diane and I have identified a number of key areas where learners who narrowly fail the ICT test are dropping marks. In many cases they are simple things that can be avoided. The following is a rundown of key errors to avoid and ensure that your learners pass their I.T test at the first attempt.

The following should therefore be pointed out to learners before they take their test in I.T at level 1 and level 2 –

 When asked to do a screen shot at the start of the test make sure the learner takes a screen shot of the search engine they use with the criteria clearly visible. If the learner does a screen shot of the web page from where they got their information from they will lose marks.

 Ensure the website address is the website address from where the image is from and not the image address. Again the learner will lose marks.

 Answer any questions at the start and end of the test using full sentences and correct spelling.

 When using formula on a spreadsheet for level 2 the use of =sum is not awarded a mark. So for example =sum(b1+b2) would not be given a mark. Learner at level 2 need to use =b1+b2.

 Always ensure that a footer is included on every document. By not doing this learners lose valuable marks unnecessarily.

 If asked to do a graph make sure the learner does a bar graph. Other graphs such as a pie chart or line graph are deemed unsuitable for displaying information in the test.

 Always label your chart fully. The chart should have a title and vertical & horizontal axis should also be labelled.

 The graph should always be moved to a new sheet on its own. Make sure the learner is aware of this and tell them to avoid putting the graph as an object in the spreadsheet.

 If the learner is asked to do leaflet make sure they split their one side of A4 into columns. Also ensure that any logo is placed at the top of the page, preferably centred. This makes it clear that it is the logo.  Make sure the info sheet has a border and that the images used are the same size.

 The learner needs to use the Team Enterprises test email account to do their email. If they don’t they can lose marks, again unnecessarily. As the email document shows the back ground tells the marker that the learner used the internet, something strictly prohibited after the first part of the test.

 The email needs to be formal. Even though this is not an English test a formal email needs to be produced with at least one paragraph and the correct salutation needs to be used. This will ensure full marks are given.

If you have any questions or need me to demonstrate any of the above then please ask myself or Diane.
