<p>Division Council Meeting Minutes March 18, 2008</p><p>Welcome</p><p>Tom Jackson welcomed everyone to the first Spring 08 Division Council.</p><p>Library Purchases</p><p>Vince Robles said the Library has received $100,000 to purchase books, periodicals, publications. The money is allotted by division -He asked faculty to make suggestions for purchasing books for students to use -The Library can do orientations and tailor them to the appropriate subject</p><p>Grade Change Petitions -Faculty are to keep records for at least 18 months. -The Records Office keeps all copies on microfiche </p><p>CCE -Due to budget cuts, CCE will not be available to part-time instructors -CCE budget was submitted in Fall 07 but nothing was heard from the VP -At the VP Staff meeting this morning Dr. Arce said there will be a CCE budget for Spring 08 and for Fall 08</p><p>Budget and Cut-Off Dates -The budget is being cut by 5% -Lois distributed the budget cut-off dates -Purchase Requests need to go to Lois as soon as possible -Grants and Foundation money are exempt -TJ will talk to each department to plan for next year’s budget -Open P.O.s need to be submitted as soon as possible -There will be no budget for mileage -Faculty should refrain from buying out of pocket materials because there may not be any petty cash</p><p>On-Line Plan -On-line process is designed to plan for each department, budget, SLO’s -The on-line plan cannot be accessed off-line, only on campus and using certain computers -TJ talked with Sheryl and computers are now accessible -Faculty are to put in all their information on-line since there may not be a budget next year -TJ is available to help faculty -Suggestion to cut and paste information</p><p>1 Division Council Meeting Minutes March 18, 2008</p><p>Reports </p><p>Academic Affairs – Steve Cocca -Have a 3-4% enrollment, trends look good -Selection process for District Fach is due March 28 -Library, programs on line look at old will have 2 terminals -SLO reports have been finished, moving on to Certificates and Degrees -SLO is for fall -Have 380 SLO’s complete -Do more advertising for our programs. -I&T under advertised -Susie Dever new Dean at Compton -Checking into Health Center being available for evenings</p><p>Counseling – Valencia Rayford -Handout for Walk-in counseling was distributed -Wednesdays are slow and asking faculty to send students to Valencia -Valencia is also available for classroom visits</p><p>Division Office – Carol Quiroz -Faculty are to prepare for evaluation visits, etc -Faculty are to continue to check emails. Messages, meetings are now on-line -We are going paperless</p><p>Other -1st Robotics will be at the LA Sports Arena (Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 8:00-5:00pm) -Robots did better than USC. One of our Robots won</p><p>-Westec Conference LA Convention Center (March 31 to April 3) </p><p>-TJ toured Robinson Helicopter who are looking to employ students. -TJ met with the President of the Federal.. On January 1st they layed off 200 security officers. Their ages are between 30-55yrs -They will be coming to ECC starting Summer and Fall to be retrained in Electronics, Machine Tool, Automotive, and Construction</p><p>Tops Lab? -The Tops lab is closed, but will be converted t a MAC lab and service the entire campus -I&T has 2 fashion programs that use MACs -Dr. Arce agreed to fund the MAC lab</p><p>2 Division Council Meeting Minutes March 18, 2008</p><p>Lockdown? -Classroom doors should be locked from the inside. Let Mike know to change the locks in the Automotive areas</p><p>Winter Session? -We will know in 2 weeks whether we will offer a Winter session</p><p>The meeting ended at 4:58p.m.</p><p>3</p>
