<p> How To Find Greak Speakers </p><p>Plenary sessions need GREAT SPEAKERS!</p><p>Plenary sessions often revolve a keynote speaker. This part of the convention program should feature a presenter which appeals to a wide audience. Most plenary sessions may include Lions companions and sometimes family members as well. </p><p>Key to a plenary session that will be a full house is a great keynote speaker. Here are some tips to find a great keynote speaker, who will both inform and entertain. </p><p>Consider bringing in outside, NON LIONS as speakers. </p><p> Work with Host Committee to find local heroes, celebrities and media personalities.</p><p> Local speakers will have less expense for travel and may not require overnight accommodations. </p><p> Invite an artist or sports figure from the area of the venue of the convention.</p><p> Find successful people who have had to overcome great obstacles to obtain their success. There may be one who has overcome obstacles tied to various Lions missions.</p><p>Seek out a local speakers bureau for people of local notoriety. </p><p> Local corporate or community leaders often offer themselves to speak at events occurring locally, which keeps travel and lodging costs down. </p><p> Ask for recommendations from the convention and visitors bureau or local chamber of commerce. </p><p>Seek a local beneficiary of Lions programs or local benefactor of a Lions foundation who could tell their story.</p><p> Is there a non-Lion who has made a large contribution to your district or state foundation who deserves recognition – is there a mission story tied to this gift?</p><p> Is there a local citizen who received support from the Lions in a way that impacted their ability to move forward and become an outstanding citizen or successful in business?</p><p>DA CNV HFGS 06.06.14 How To Find Greak Speakers </p><p>Seek out speakers from a local community who can share that community’s needs and how Lions may help </p><p> This is similar to completing a Community Needs Assessment.</p><p> This could be a representative of a community who understands the unique needs of the community for which a Lions club came to assist, and the positive impact it had on that community. Get clubs thinking about the power of the impact they could have on their own community.</p><p>Don’t be afraid to go for a “big” name.</p><p> Ask a contact who can help you connect to that name. </p><p> Find a way to fund it. </p><p> You may find a local corporation proud to tie their business with the Lions mission and the celebrity who also is supportive of Lions missions.</p><p> You will never know unless you ASK.</p><p>DA CNV HFGS 06.06.14</p>
