In order for a sentence to be truly a sentence or complete, it must have three things:</p><p>1. ______2. ______3. ______</p><p>EXAMPLE: My sister plays the violin every day after school.</p><p>PRACTICE #1: Read the following sentences and identify these parts. </p><p>1. Antarctica has the highest elevation of the seven continents.</p><p>2. People on Antarctica study many things.</p><p>3. One type of bird found on Antarctica is the penguin.</p><p>4. The continent is far away from pollution.</p><p>5. Even though Antarctica is covered in ice and snow, it can be considered a desert.</p><p>A fragment is an incomplete sentence. It is incomplete because it is missing one of the three parts of a sentence, either a subject, verb, or complete thought.</p><p>EXAMPLE: ______Spends time together walking through the garden. ______Before she went home. ______The people swimming in the pool on Saturday.</p><p>PRACTICE #2: The following are all fragments.
