It is optional for students to purchase one for personal use and at home. When needed for classroom use, a calculator will be provided for your child. There are several options for calculator purchases. I have found Target, Costco, and Staples to have the lowest prices. I also recommend that you check online. Often, the online price is lower and the stores will honor this price. Craigslist and ebay often have used ones as well. The TI-84 Plus Silver calculator has built in “aps” programs for review of basic skills and the greatest amount of memory. There is also a new TI-Inspire on the market which may be the future of graphing calculators. It has an interchangeable TI-84 face plate that can be used if you would like to purchase this calculator.</p>
