Topics covered include: planetary gear operation, application devices, hydraulics, torque converters, diagnosis, and rebuilding of automatic transmissions/ transaxles. Also covered, will be the operation, testing, diagnosis and repair of computer- controlled transmissions/transaxles. </p><p>Required Text: Tom Birch & Chuck Rockwood, Automatic Transmissions and Transaxles, 4th Edition, Prentice Hall 2010.</p><p>Grading: Your final grade will be computed from the classroom (50%), and the lab (50%).</p><p>Cell Phones: All cell phones must be turned off during class. Please do not “text message” while in class or play games on your phone. You will receive one warning from the instructor to turn-off or put your phone away. On your second offence, you’ll be asked to leave the class and receive no credit for that day.</p><p>1 Tardiness Policy:</p><p>Every time the student is late for a classroom or lab session 10 points will be deducted from the students total possible points. IT IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE HIS/HER SAFETY GLASSES ON AT ALL TIMES. IF THE STUDENT IS NOT 3 WEARING SAFETY GLASSES HE/SHE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO STAY IN THE LABORATORY.
