<p> Christian Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament Mordechai Vanunu House • 162 Holloway Rd, London N7 8DQ • Tel: 020 7700 4200/2393 Fax: 020 7700 2357 Email: [email protected] • Website: http://ccnd.gn.apc.org ______</p><p>Press Release 星期日, 08 四月 2018 In Good Faith Interfaith conference on the renewal of Trident 15 – 18 September Douai Abbey, Berkshire On 16th & 17th September, Christian Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament will be facilitating an interfaith conference to exchange insights form different faith traditions on nuclear disarmament and the possible replacement of Trident, the UK’s nuclear weapons system.</p><p>The conference, which includes the Annual General Meeting of CCND, will start the evening before with a tour of Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) Aldermaston. On the morning of the 16th, after introductions and a welcome letter from the Mayor of Reading, an interfaith panel of speakers will discuss the issues. The conference also has the support of Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Reading.</p><p>Amongst the speakers are: Brother Christopher Greener OSB from Douai Abbey, Monawar Hussain, Muslim Tutor at Eton College, well-known Hindu speaker, Dilip Lapani and Buddhist speaker Nge Wang. </p><p>In the evening after supper, Karen & Andrew Kaye will sing songs of reconciliation from the Jewish tradition.</p><p>On Sunday 17th September, after Mass, there will be a workshop on developments at AWE Aldermaston, followed by an exchange of insights from people in various faith communities on peace. </p><p>Christian CND intends to produce an interfaith statement from the conference. </p><p>At 7am on the morning of Monday, 18th September, CCND and friends will hold an Interfaith Vigil of Witness at the Tadley Gate at Aldermaston. We will have a banner saying ‘Yes to Decommission, Yes to Jobs, No to Trident’. </p><p>Notes Trident is the UK’s submarine-based nuclear weapons system.
