<p>Media Farmers’ Market Opens May 12!</p><p>Sharing good food and fun entertainment until November!</p><p>The Media Farmers Market opens May 12 at 3 p.m. and while the market is in its second year, it will seem almost brand new. </p><p>“There are many new farmers and vendors that expand this year’s market We will introduce new types of fresh food and locally made products to temp the taste buds of everyone who stops by the parking lot next to the Media Theater every Thursday,” Market Committee member Addie Ciannella says. </p><p>Five local growers of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables increase the variety of choices at this season’s the market. The Hillside Farm, on the grounds of the Elwyn Institute, has enlarged its planting beds and will have a greater variety of fresh fare. Fruitwood Farm, Herrcastle Farm, Freecon Farm, and E. Fudd &Son (yes, that “E” stands for Elmer!), will bring all kinds of interesting fruits and vegetables throughout the seasons, and Mushrooms of Chadds Ford will introduce its marinated mushrooms and freshly made mushroom soupn along with a plethora of interesting varieties of this vegetable. </p><p>All farms are within a 75-mile radius of Media making the market a truly local experience,” Cianella says. </p><p>Great Harvest Bread Company, new to the market this year, mils its own flours to create an interesting variety of healthy breads and rolls. If you can’t decide which loaf to get, you will be offered a sample. </p><p>You can take your bread sample, stop at Made in the Shade Lemonade for a glass of their freshly squeezed elixir infused with locally grown fruits and herbs, and then sit awhile to plan your menus for the week before completing your shopping. You could decide to enhance your snack with cookies from My House cookies, and a few strawberries, too. </p><p>Other new vendors include First State Creamery that makes goat’s milk cheeses both raw milk hard cheeses and soft pasteurized cheeses. Burlap and Bean sells fair trade coffee and Jack’s Jams and Jellies are made from locally produced fruits. </p><p>Humanely raised poultry will be available again this year from Red Haven Farm and Birchrun Farms returns with pork, veal and cheese. Maiale’s Salumeria will join the market this year bringing handmade artisanal sausages, salami, pasta and sauces. </p><p>Go to the website mediafarmersmarket.com for additional information or email [email protected]</p><p>Media Farmers Market’s Opening Day Brings out Best in Local Food and Local Talent</p><p>The Media Farmers’ Market bell will ring at 3 p.m.m to start the season local singer/songwriter Christine Kinslow will perform followed by Janine Kelly, well-know children’s performer, will begin at 3:45 p.m. </p><p>Moms and dads are welcome to sing along with their children as Janine shares the music she has created with Delaware County’s Makin’ Music. Janine is an educator as well as a performer and knows that children learn better and remember more when information is put to music. Kids will certainly remember the good time they had while their parents shop.</p><p>The entertainment continues into the evening when the music of Wayne Harvey begins at 5 p.m. These musicians will make food shopping, well, like a walk in the park. </p>
