<p> Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hunterdon, Somerset & Warren County</p><p>HIGH SCHOOL BIGS PROGRAM</p><p>Description: Big Brothers and Big Sisters, (Bigs), are caring volunteer mentors who spend one-on-one time with children, (Littles). Screened/trained volunteers are matched with children who would benefit from the friendship and positive influence of a mentor. Match meetings take place at local after school program sites, utilizing program facilities and activities. Contact between Bigs and Littles does not occur outside of the program site. Matches meet at the same time each week for about an hour, with on site supervision from Big Brothers Big Sisters and program staff. </p><p>How can I fit this commitment into my very busy schedule? We know that many of you are involved in several extra curricular activities. Consistent contact with your Little Brother or Little Sister is extremely important to the success of the program. To ensure this success, we give volunteers flexibility in choice of days. We ask that you meet with your Little regularly. It is important that you are responsible and contact BBBS when there is any change in your schedule.</p><p>How do I apply? Contact your advisor or contact Big Brothers Big Sisters. Once we have received your application, BBBS staff will contact you to begin the application process.</p><p>What do matches do when they meet? You can do anything that the program offers in the way of activities or facilities. Matches can also work on homework, or just talk and hang out. It’s FUN!!</p><p>How does the screening process work? Each prospective Big and Little is screened to the Standards and Practice of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The process includes an application, reference check, interview and training.
