<p>Memphis Eagle Scout Association Sub-Group/Start-Up kit Contact: Ken Kimble – Chickasaw Council MESA Advisor – [email protected]</p><p>The Memphis Eagle Scout Association (MESA) is a group of men who earned the Eagle Scout award as members of the Boy Scouts of America and have a common interest in supporting the programs of the Boy Scouts.</p><p>This group promotes the following:</p><p> Service – Opportunities to support Chickasaw Council programs such as Scouting for Food, service projects at camp, Friends of Scouting participation, mentoring Life to Eagle process or volunteering with a local Troop to name a few.</p><p> Networking – Provides opportunities for Eagle Scouts to network professionally with other men who share a common history and values. MESA members promote each other’s professional goals.</p><p> Social – Boys join Scouts to have fun! Likewise, members of MESA participate in a variety of social activities such as Eagle Scout receptions, professional mixers, camping trips, fitness groups, bbq and holiday events.</p><p>While the entire MESA organization gathers several times a year, Eagle Scouts are encouraged to establish their own “sub-groups” or chapters of MESA. For example: you could establish a MESA group with fellow co-workers or within a common profession, a MESA group that meets in a particular part of town, or even a MESA centered around a common interest such as ministry work, recreational activities or other hobbies or interests.</p><p>While all members of MESA are encouraged to register with the Boy Scouts of America (this is a requirement if you want to attend official Scouting activities or programs such as camp or Troop meetings) there are no membership dues. Most events are pay as you go.</p><p>Starting your own MESA sub-group is simple Contact the Council Office at 901-327-4193 and speak to either the program director or the finance director Establish a “sub-group” on the MESA Linkedin or Facebook page Work with a MESA board member to host and/or promote your first event Chickasaw Council can provide guidance and support along with recordkeeping and promotions</p><p>For more information on MESA or other local Scouting activities go to linkedin.com or facebook and search for Memphis Eagle Scouts.</p>
