<p> VILLAGE OF HINSDALE JULY 4TH PARADE</p><p>GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPANTS 1. Location and Date – The parade will begin promptly at 10:00 am. The route travels from 6th and Garfield to 1st St., west on 1st Street to Grant and south on Grant to 7th street. The route is approximately 1.45 miles. 2. Confirmation –The person applying for the parade space received an e-mail with the parade line-up staging location. Please share the staging area with anyone participating with your group in the parade. The parade line-up is at the discretion of the Village. Once the parade order is final, no changes will be made to the Parade order. Requests are taken for parade placement but are not guaranteed. 3. Line-up Time – parade line up will begin at 9:00 am at your specified location. Groups arriving late may not be permitted to participate. The registration deadline was June 12, so no entries will be accepted that are not registered. Parade groups should be in place by 9:30 am. Street closure will begin after that making it difficult to get to your staging area. 4. Restrictions – The Hinsdale Independence Day Parade is an opportunity for residents of Hinsdale and neighboring communities to come together to celebrate America’s Independence Day and the United States of America. Any entrant’s presentation or representation determined by the Village to be unsafe will not be permitted to participate in the parade.</p><p>GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPANTS  Only approved entrants will be admitted to the parade line-up.  Children in the parade must be accompanied by an adult. The parade route is lengthy; children who are walking or biking should be prepared to ride the entire route. If they are not able to walk the distance alternative transportation should be provided. No transportation is provided by the Village.  In the interest of the safety of our children, and to prevent distractions of parade viewing, throwing of candy from parade participants and the crowd during the parade is prohibited.  The use of any squirt guns or “super soakers” will also be prohibited.  Entrants are encouraged to creatively express American patriotism by incorporating red, white and blue decorations/props, exciting visuals and patriotic music. All entries must be identified with a professional looking banner or sign.  Solicitation of donations of any kind during the parade is strictly prohibited.  Floats are encouraged but vehicles decorated with patriotic colored fringe or skirting are acceptable. A group of individuals riding decorated vehicles (such as bicycles or wagons) is permitted.  Entries are encouraged to incorporate music into their display, either live or recorded. Bands and sound systems should include patriotic music in their music selections.  Participants in the parade should be outfitted in red, white or blue or combination of these colors. Marching bands may wear their uniforms but should select the uniform that is most patriotic.  Dignitaries and politicians must adhere to the requirement for decorated car or float.  Commercial businesses may enter the parade, however, the entry must not be just a promotion of the business. Entries must display a business sign.  All vehicles must travel the parade route in a safe and orderly manner. Speeding, careless and reckless driving will not be allowed. Vehicle speed should be no faster than normal walking speed.</p><p>Contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 630-789-7090 regarding the entry with any questions.
