<p>2017 年 11 月 28 日</p><p>Dear Parents/Caregivers</p><p>Welcome back to Term 3, 2017. We trust you had a wonderful break and are ready for another busy and exciting term! Please take the time to read the following information. </p><p>Homework Homework will continue to be sent home on Monday and returned on Friday. It consists of reading and online tasks (Literacy Planet & Mathletics). If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.</p><p>Festival of Nations As you are aware our school festival is on Saturday 29 July. Information has already been sent home regarding ways you can help. We are looking for volunteers to help run our stalls on the day. Please check the newsletters and school website for further information. We are looking forward to a great day!</p><p>Parent Teacher Interviews Interviews will be held in the last week of term. More information will be provided closer to the date.</p><p>Here is a snapshot of our learning for Term 3</p><p>Maths  Number up to 10 000– place value, counting patterns  Operations – written methods  Representing, comparing & ordering fractions  Money - Calculating change  Multiplication tables– 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x  Symmetry  Measurement – mass (kg) & capacity (Litres)  Data – collecting, representing & interpreting  Problem solving</p><p>English  Reading – independent, small group and whole class reading opportunities focusing on reading skills and comprehension strategies  Spelling – spelling rules and vowel patterns (THRASS chart)  Handwriting – transition to cursive writing  Writing – further developing sentence structure, punctuation, paragraphing and editing skills  Genre – written retell of a story from another character’s point of view Science Physical Sciences  Exploring how heat is produced and transferred  Making predictions, observations and recording data</p><p>HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) How and why places are similar and different?  Exploring places near and far  World climate zones  Mapping skills</p><p>French, Music & HPE are taught by Specialist Teachers – Mme Fred Callaghan (French), Mr Ian Phillips (Music) & Mr Kelvin Crosby (HPE). Children also have a weekly library lesson with Mrs Leanne Sneddon.</p><p>Please do not hesitate to see your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
