SENER Will Attend the International Meeting CSP Today India

PRESS RELEASE

SENER will attend the international meeting CSP Today India

Madrid, March 12, 2013. The engineering and technology group SENER will be present at this edition of the international trade fair on concentrated solar power CSP Today India, held from March 12 to 13 in New Delhi.

In this event, SENER, represented by the Country Manager and CEO of SENER in India, Shaju Stephen, will give an insight about the advantages of solar tower power plants and the possibility of developing this technology in India, profiting from the company’s experience in this sector.

SENER specializes in turnkey or EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects involving both parabolic trough collector technology as well as power plants with central tower receiver. Its capacity to anticipate, together with an ambitious program of technological development, has made it a leading company in cost-efficient solar technology innovations.

To date, SENER has taken part in the construction of over twenty-five concentrated solar power plants, most of them as turnkey projects, in Spain, USA, India, South Africa and Morocco, which represents 21 % of the power plants with this technology operating today in the world and 42 % in Spain. These projects amount to more than 1,500 MW of installed capacity

(20 % worldwide and 43 % in Spain) and a saving of over one million tons of CO2. Among these projects, we can highlight the Gemasolar plant, the first one in the world in commercial operation, whose design combines a central tower receiver with a molten salt thermal storage system. The commissioning of this plant, in 2011, was a milestone in the concentrated solar power industry.

The two major contributions of SENER in the field of thermosolar technology have been: first, thermal storage, both in plants with central tower receiver as in parabolic trough collector plants, which dramatically improves real-time management of power generation. Thanks to its storage capacity, these plants may continue to produce energy in the absence of solar radiation and, secondly, contribute to cost reduction by industrialized designs and processes.

About SENER SENER is a private engineering and technology group founded in 1956, which strives to offer its clients state-of-the-art technological solutions and which enjoys international recognition thanks to its independence and its commitment to innovation and quality. SENER has a workforce of more than 5,000 professionals and a turnover of 1,160 million Euros (2011 figures).

Links:

www.sener.es;

More information: www.sener Mariana Fernández.
