<p>Department or Chair DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE within the Faculty</p><p>ACTING AND PUPPETRY Study program </p><p>1st cycle Study level </p><p>Course title Animation 1: of body parts and objects</p><p>Course code GL 0201</p><p>Language of instruction Croatian, English During the course following topics will be introduced and discussed: comparing basic principles in puppetry and acting; focusing energy on different body parts, e.g. on objects that become a part of puppetry creation; Course description understanding of the meaning of puppet as a scene metaphor; nonverbal expressions through metaphor; understanding of the meaning of nonverbal expression through personification of body parts and/or objects; creating short études based on drama conflict. Mentoring, discussions, oral presentations, individual exercises, team work/tasks, visual and multimedia Form of teaching materials. Some optional workshops if a course needs some (it is possible to acknowledge some workshops attended beside the course but with familiar content). Form of assessment Students have to attend classes regularly. In order to have their student's book signed they have to attend at least 90% of classes and do their tasks and homework. Their work is assessed during the whole semester and they can obtain 100 points out of a maximum of 100 points: 10 points – active participating during the course (creativity, taking part in tasks and discussions) and going to theatre to see puppet performances 10 points – practical tasks during the course (showing études, team tasks) 10 points – homework (creating and practicing études on topic given) 10 points – looking for possibilities of expressing through specific characteristics of animation in pairs 10 points – projects – preparing dramaturgical wholeness of exam études 20 points – preliminary exam (chosen études are shown and graded) 30 points – final exam, open to public. There is only one final exam at the end of the semester, so students are obliged to take this exam.
