<p>Magic and Mystery: making changes</p><p>Add a few ideas of your own to The Magic Wood. </p><p>The wood is full of shining eyes, The wood is full of creeping feet, The wood is full of tiny cries: You must not go to the wood at night! might become </p><p>The wood is full of …………. wings, The wood is full of creaks and groans, The wood is full of ……………… You must not go to the wood at night! or you could make it a different place:</p><p>The street is full of shining lights The street is full of ………… feet The street is full of ………………….. You must not go in the street at night!</p><p>It could be quite cosy (and you could change the last line):</p><p>The house is full of slumbering eyes This house is full of …………….. This house is full of snores and ……… Do not wake this house tonight!</p><p>Try to ignore the rhyme but keep the line length and rhythm. If a rhyme appears, that’s okay but don’t let it determine the meaning.</p><p>Try adapting other verses:</p><p>I met a man with eyes of glass And a finger as curled as the wriggling worm, And hair all red with rotting leaves, And a stick that hissed like a summer snake. might become:</p><p>I met a man with eyes of stone And fingers as sharp as pointed knives, And hair all spiked like a porcupine, And a horse that stood like a great statue.</p><p>© Teachit 2008</p>
