Emphasis will be placed on the major operation systems likely to be encountered in the work place. Practice in installing, upgrading and patching Microsoft and Linux operating systems. Currently we are using the Cisco IT Essentials I curriculum as outlined below. This course introduces students to information technology and data communications. Students will develop the necessary skills to enter this field by building a computer, installing the operating system, adding peripherals, connecting the computer to a local area network and to the Internet. This is a hands-on, lab-oriented course that stresses laboratory safety and working effectively in a group environment.</p><p>WSU Course Objectives: To introduce students to the basic concepts of microcomputer operating systems. This course will cover the basics of MS DOS, the current Microsoft OSs as well as the Linux OS (to include variations of UNIX).</p><p>1. Introduction 2. Getting started in IT 3.
