<p>Executive Officer, Prince William Campus, George Mason University</p><p>This new position focuses on coordination, internal administration and external representation at Mason’s Prince William campus, within the University’s overall distributed campus scheme. The Executive will work to facilitate growth of academic operations, while also coordinating relations with the external community around research and economic development, real estate management and the emergence of the Town Center, and the further development of Innovation Park. </p><p>Mason’s Prince William campus currently hosts about 2500 students and will expand. It centers the University’s research efforts in the life sciences and in kinesiology, and hosts major programs in Recreation and Tourism, Medical Education, Information Technology (BSIT), Education, and Nursing. It also offers a major arts venue, the Hylton Center, and a Governor’s School in science. A first round of student housing is now being constructed </p><p>The Executive Officer will work closely with relevant deans and with other University offices essential to the campus, including Facilities, Information Technology, University Life, Regional Campuses and Development. A collaborative style is essential.</p><p>Qualifications include at least a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (science/ engineering or economic development preferred); a record of progressively responsible management experience including familiarity with developing and evaluating business plans; proven leadership and a track record of success in a complex university environment; demonstrated managerial skills for supervision of professional staff; strong interpersonal and communications skills. </p><p>The Executive Officer will oversee a staff, including a senior administrative officer. The Executive will report to the Provost and the Senior Vice President. </p><p>The principal responsibilities will be:</p><p>Management and operational oversight and coordination and implementation of administrative policies for the campus and of the physical development of the campus.</p><p>Assistance to the academic units for expansion of existing educational and research programs and implementation of new programs.</p><p>Provision of administrative leadership for day-to-day operations and coordination with administrative units, academic units and student services of the University.</p><p>Building and maintaining working relationships throughout the region with public and private organizations, groups and agencies to promote the University. </p>
