Pancho and Lefty

Pancho and Lefty

Composed by Charlie Ipcar, © 2013 Tune inspired by "Pancho and Lefty" Key: D(2/C) The Rogue Time-Police

Em----G------C---G Now Charley Noble was a rov-ing blade, Waves of time went swirling by, D------D7------G---D A kaleidoscopic tumble-dry, Smoke and mir-rors was his trade; Then they heard that pinging sound, -----C------D--C And with a jerk the Machine shut down; He traveled near, he travel-ed far, Charley sprung the hatch, stepped outside, G------D--G------D With trusty Mark close by his side, In a man-ner most bi-zarre; They gazed about all wild-eyed, D7---C------D--C At a world beyond belief! And Mark the Knife was his good friend; G------C----G The landscape was in constant flow, He was with him till the end; Ridge and valley vertigo; Em------C----G---Em Rivers 'long the ridge-tops raced, You never know what life intends, Then shot off into misty space; -----C------Em Trees sprung up full-grown, then died, But that's the way it goes. Dead branches stretched across the sky, That wind from out of time screamed by, Swirling tree trunks into dust. Chorus: Now somewhere in that surreal place, Em--C------D---C The Great Time-Rift they had to face, And still the Time-Police-men say With their caulking guns deployed ------G------C---G------They would conquer or be destroyed; "We could have had them any day;" And sure enough around a bend, Em------C----G--D-Em They spied the Rift that they must mend; They only let them slip a-way To save the world from a sorry end, ------C------Em They injected Super-Glue. (CHO) Out of kindness, I sup-pose. Mark was the one who made it back, But Charley slipped, fell through a crack, One day when they was working shift, As it opened wide in a burst of steam, They heard about a time line rift; He disappeared with one long scream; The past was leaking like a sieve, So now Mark's left to sing the blues, Would there be a future left to live? While Charley's joined that cosmic stew; Charley cranked up the Wayback Machine, There's still a future for Mark to chose, Mark set the dial for 1013, If he can find his way. (CHO 2X) The present faded like a dream; They was on the trail once more!
