PRESS RELEASE

Schmersal Italia showcases innovations and safety services at SPS IPC Drives Italia 2016

Visit Schmersal Italia SRL from 24 to 26 May 2016 at SPS IPC Drives Italia 2016 in Parma, Italy, Pav. 3 - Stand D062

Borgosatollo, 30. March 2016. The latest innovations in safety technology, which were only launched just a few weeks ago, will be presented by Schmersal Italia SRL at SPS Drives Italia at the end of May this year. At the same time, the company will be presenting a program of safety services which is unique in the industry at this trade show in Parma. This extensive range of services is now available from tec.nicum, a new division of the Schmersal group which was founded in January 2016. Schmersal Italia is also presenting a series of system components which meet the increased requirements of ISO 14119, including the world’s only electromagnetic safety switches and interlocks with high coding levels.

The latest innovations from Schmersal The new safe AZM400 bolt interlock from Schmersal consists of an interlock unit with the sensor systems, a motor-powered locking bolt and the actuator. The AZM400 achieves a locking force of 10,000 Newtons, which is unique in the market thus far. Because of its strong locking force, this safety interlock is especially suited to large safety doors, as the AZM400 also locks and unlocks reliably in difficult conditions. This means the AZM400 guarantees a high level of machine availability. The new TÜV-certified PROTECT SRB-E range from Schmersal has the benefit of covering a wide range of applications with just eight basic models. Each module can be configured using an easy to handle control element for up to eleven different applications. The series can be used to monitor all conventional safety sensors and electromechanical safety equipment.

1 / 3 tec.nicum offers comprehensive safety services The new service sector of the Schmersal Group was only founded in January. tec.nicum consists of qualified functional safety engineers who form a global consultancy network. The experts at tec.nicum advise machine manufacturers and operators on all questions of machine and industrial safety independently of products and manufacturers. They also plan and implement complex safety solutions in close cooperation with clients all over the world. The tec.nicum service portfolio incorporates four segments: tec.nicum academy (training courses), tec.nicum consulting (consultancy services), tec.nicum engineering (technical planning), tec.nicum integration (execution and implementation).

Unique in the world: electromagnetic safety switches with high coding levels ISO 14119, which is applicable as of 2015, demands measures to protect tampering with locking mechanisms (manipulation protection), i.e. the machine operator should be prevented from bypassing or switching off safety equipment. This requirement is now fulfilled by the AZ 16 and AZ 17 electromechanical safety switches and the AZM 161 and AZM 170 electromechanical safety interlocks. These ranges are now available as individually coded options with over 1000 different code variations, making them comply with a “high” coding level. Increased manipulation protection is also achieved using the RSS range of safety sensors from Schmersal, such as the RSS 16 or RSS 260. In these contactless switchgear devices, the sensor and the target communicate via a safety-oriented detection principle based on RFID technology. Among other things, this makes it possible to enable selection between two types of coding depending on the required level of manipulation protection.

Photo in print quality for download: jpg format: http://www.schmersal.net/Bilddata/Azm/azm400/fotos/katalog/1000xkazm4f34.jpg eps format: http://www.schmersal.net/Bilddata/Azm/azm400/fotos/katalog/kazm4f34.zip

Caption: Compact design, very high locking force, bistable principle and an electric locking bolt: the new safe AZM400 bolt interlock from Schmersal has been on the market just a few weeks.
