
<p> S.R. No. 1266</p><p>SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1266</p><p>WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Terry L. Dicianna, who has recently accepted the position of Vice President of Extended Academic Services and Interim Provost with the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio; and</p><p>WHEREAS, Former President of Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Dr. Dicianna arrived at Del Mar College in June, 1995, bringing many ideas for improvements to the college; and</p><p>WHEREAS, Dr. Dicianna introduced e-mail, the Internet, and distance learning instruction while at Del Mar College; he developed the Business Development Center for customized training, and he authored an early retirement incentive program which saved the college $2.5 million; and</p><p>WHEREAS, A gifted and resourceful gentleman, Dr. Dicianna guided the school into the technological age; he also met the need for revenue by obtaining bonds to have the Solomon Coles Building completed; and</p><p>WHEREAS, Called a strong leader by members of the board of regents of Del Mar College, Terry L. Dicianna has appreciated the fellowship and genuine support of the staff, faculty, and students of Del Mar College; and</p><p>WHEREAS, Believing strongly in returning value to his community, Dr. Dicianna was a member of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce and on the board of directors of the Business and Education Coalition of the chamber, was on the Executive Board of the Gulf Coast Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army; and</p><p>WHEREAS, Among his professional associations, Dr. Dicianna is a member of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, a member of the TACC/Starlink, developing the Virtual College of Texas, and is the South Texas Regional Director of the Texas Public Junior and Community College Employee Benefit Consortium; and</p><p>WHEREAS, Dr. Dicianna enhanced the quality of education in Corpus Christi and the State of Texas in countless ways, and he is indeed worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it</p><p>RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 77th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Terry L. Dicianna on his outstanding service in education to the citizens of Corpus Christi and the State of Texas and extend to him warmest best wishes for his challenging endeavor in his new position with the University of the Incarnate Word; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Dr. Terry L.
