<p>News for Immediate Release</p><p>May 7, 2014</p><p>SCI Pine Grove’s Morrow Recognized as Mentor of the Year</p><p>Indiana – Matthew Morrow, an employment vocation coordinator who works at the State Correctional Institution at Pine Grove, was recognized today with the Department of Corrections’ Mentor of the Year award. </p><p>After a dozen years working with the Department of Corrections, following 12 years as a county probation officer, Matthew Morrow has a great deal of knowledge and experience.</p><p>Luckily for the employees at SCI Pine Grove, Morrow, the corrections employment vocation coordinator, enjoys sharing that knowledge and serving as a mentor to others. </p><p>Last year, he mentored two such employees, including a food service instructor and a corrections counselor. Both employees credited Morrow with initiating contact and seeking them out to make sure they were doing well at work.</p><p>One of Morrow’s mentees commented that if Morrow was out of the office for a few days, he would always call immediately upon his return. The other said Morrow seemed to truly enjoy being a mentor and helping others, and his efforts to guide him always seemed genuine and sincere. </p><p>A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Morrow worked as a probation officer for Indiana County for 12 years before joining the Department of Corrections’ staff in July 2002. He has served as a mentor at the facility for more than two years, consistently receiving positive responses from those he has helped.</p><p>In addition to his work with the Department of Corrections, Morrow is also a mentor in the community. </p><p>An active member of the Lord Jesus Christ Assembly Church, Morrow has demonstrated his leadership abilities in the church’s Resurrection Sunday School for the past 15 years, teaching children between the ages of 7 and 12.</p><p>Media contact: Judy Smith, SCI Pine Grove PIO, 724-465-9630</p><p>###</p>
