<p>Name______Date______#______Science – Properties of Earth – Rock Project</p><p>Pet Rock and Rock Cycle Project</p><p>Part 1 - Pet Rock part:</p><p>1) Your assignment is to find a rock—igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic— that you wish to “adopt.” 2) You must name your pet rock! It’s name ______3) You may either: a. Decorate or dress your rock to make it your own. (However, at least part of the original rock’s surface must be visible), OR </p><p> b. Turn in your rock “as is” and draw an original portrait of it instead. (this must be very detailed)</p><p>4) You also need to answer questions about your rock. (see attached sheet)  Where and when did you find this rock?  Why did you choose this rock?  What type of rock do you think you have? (igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic)  Why do you think it is this type? Describe the ways you might determine exactly what type of rock you have. (you can’t just guess what type of rock it is, you must have proof – use your notes!) Part 2 - Rock Cycle part: </p><p>Pick one of the following options. Option 1: Comic Strip Requirements:</p><p>1. Create a minimum 5-box comic strip that illustrates and shows your </p><p> rock’s trip through the rock cycle. -It must include the rock changing from one kind of rock to another. (igneous to sedimentary to metamorphic) 2. This must tell a story and NOT just be a picture of each step! (you should have captions under each picture)</p><p>Option 2: Story Requirements: 1. Write a story that describes the journey of your rock through the rock </p><p> cycle. - It must include the rock changing from one kind of rock to another. (igneous to sedimentary to metamorphic) 2. Create at least three pictures that illustrate the journey of your rock.</p><p>Above all, have fun with this!
