Lake Dallas High School 2016-2017 School Year Foundations of College Algebra Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am very excited to be your teacher this year, and hope you are excited as well! We have a lot to cover this year, so to begin you need to know what is expected from you, the student, and what to expect from me, the teacher. I am also including the supply list, as well as Remind 101 and Google Classroom information. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or just to say hello. I am looking forward to this school year!

Best Wishes, L. Horton

Supplies:

● Paper (loose leaf) ● Pencils ● Box of Tissues ● Notebook or Composition book for notes ● Will take donations of markers, crayons, scissors, and glue for class use as well! ● It is highly recommended that you have access to a graphing calculator at home. We have TI 83 and TI 84 for in class use only.

Grading Policy: See also the Student Handbook 50%- Warm ups, Daily Work, Homework, Online Discussions 50% - Projects, Tests, Quizzes, Article Reviews NOTE: Tests and projects will be weighted as 2 grades each in the second category

Late Work: See also the Student Handbook One class late: 30% deduction in points and a Teacher Assigned Detention Two class late: 50% deduction in points, a Teacher Assigned Detention, and parent contact. I will not accept work more than two days late because of our block scheduling as this could mean the assignment is a week or more late. Students who are absent have the number of days they were absent to complete the work they missed and turn it in. After that the late work policy applies.

Tutoring: Tutoring is available before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, after school on Mondays and Wednesdays, or by appointment. Falcon Library is available Mondays and Thursdays from 4-6:30 where students can get help if needed.

1 Tardies: When students are late to class it disrupts the learning environment, thus I expect students to be in their seats ready to learn when the bell rings. If this is not the case, the student will be considered tardy. Students will have to put their name in the tardy book each time they are tardy with the date and class period they were late.

1st tardy- Verbal Warning 2nd tardy- Verbal Warning and a teacher assigned detention 3rd tardy- Parent Phone Call and a teacher assigned detention 4th tardy- Parent Phone Call and a teacher assigned detention 5th tardy- Referral to Assistant Principal

Conference Time: 3rd Period A Days, feel free to contact me to set up a meeting during this time.
