Update on ODS First ODS Functional Training begins this week with Advancement. Doug and Jim have set up Functional all accounts for Advancement and ask for Advancement users to test before going to training. Training Doug will be at training to assist with log-on problems. Will ask Joanne Keys to limit technical part of training and focus more on functional area. For example, training includes how to create user accounts, which is more technical. Alumni and Advancement have developed a list of tables, reports and forms to go over. Carol asked for them to prioritize lists since time with Joanne is limited. Carol ask the other functional areas to prepare for future ODS training by creating a list of people for access and send to Carol, Jim, and Doug to begin creation of accounts. It was discussed to change rest of Functional Training dates into January. However, the decision was made not to since Joanne is booked for the next eight months and will have to wait to get her scheduled again. 2. ODS and Doug reported ODS Security is made by the creation of an Oracle ID with privileges. All users WebFocus will get Common Access Views and whatever functional area a person needs. Oracle grants are Security Access made for each role in which views are made for those roles. After account is created the password is re-synced with productions. Technical staff will be set up for what they request. Jim reported that for WebFocus, each person gets a profile and defined as user, developer, analytical user, etc. (For training class, Joanne asked if all will be set up as developer) Each user will have a domain in which jobs and reports from there area will be stored in folders. ODS view will come up under metadata. There will be password verification only which is dependent on Banner ID and privileges. So are there have been Java issues for a few users that needed Java to be downloaded on the browser. 3. ODS 3.0 Doug reported that we have to have 3.0 into ODS-T by October 17 for Student Training to be do Upgrade Plan – reporting against curriculum without interfering with HR training on the 3rd. 3.0 can be installed Doug before the October 3rd HR training or the week in between HR and Student training. Carol, Doug and Jim will discuss options that will have affect on the least amount of areas and get back to the team. Doug is going to look into just refreshing Advancement side every night. The refreshing only updates what has been changed. As long as you report against views and not underlying tables, ODS will not break. Advancement reports are still done in ODSP. 4. Update on Jim reported that he has been meeting with Barry from Cleveland to discuss Report Caster. WebFocus – Report Caster is the scheduler used in WebFocus. Results from Caster can be emailed to people. Jim The next step in WebFocus is installing DashBoard which will affect a lot of users. It will allow the users to create a selection of reports to run without doing codes. The reports will be laid on the DashBoard which can be customized. Barry has provided many hours to YSU and with the ongoing training, it was brought up if we should keep Barry for training issues or have Donna Wainio have an in-house training session. Another training issue is should we have another PowerUser training sessions for those who missed the first one.
