Gandhi created a type of village which he called an ashram. An ashram was a farming community in which everyone shared the work that had to be done: from cooking meals to raking leaves to cleaning the bathrooms. Gandhi thought this was an ideal way of life … out in the countryside with everyone working together.</p><p>II. In addition to the Hindus and Muslims, there was a third major religion in India, Sikhism (“seek -- is -- um”). Someone who follows the religion of Sikhism is called a Sikh (“seek”). Sikhism is a cross between Hinduism and Islam. Sikhs take the idea of reincarnation from Hinduism and the idea of one god from Islam.</p><p>1.
