<p> Precalculus Probability and Statistics Day 1 Measures of Central Tendency  Mean: the average of a set of numbers, find the sum of n set of numbers and divide by n.  Median: when a set of number are listed in increasing order, the median is the number in the middle. If there are two numbers in the middle, the median is the average of the two middle numbers.  Mode: the number that appears most often in a set. If more than one number appears the same number of times, both numbers are the mode and the set is called bimodal. Ex. 1) Find the mean, median, and mode of the data set. a) 10, 12, 8, 9, 11, 7, 8 b) 21, 19, 25, 15, 14, 20</p><p>Standard Deviation Measure of how much the values in a data set vary form the mean 1. Find the average 2. Subtract the average from each value 3. Square each difference 4. Find the average of the squares (Variance) 5.
