<p> 2017 Laser Atlantic Coast Championships</p><p>May 5–7, 2017</p><p>Organizing Authority: Carolina Yacht Club</p><p>Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina</p><p>NOTICE OF RACE</p><p>1 RULES</p><p>1.1 The regatta is organized under the authority of the Carolina Yacht Club and will be sailed under the</p><p> management of the Carolina Yacht Club Race Committee. The regatta will be governed by the </p><p> current The Racing Rules of Sailing(RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing except those of RRS 60, </p><p>63.2 and 63.4, the rules of the classes competing as they apply to that class except as any of these </p><p> are changed by the Notice of Race or the Sailing Instructions and properly posted amendments </p><p> thereto. The US Sailing prescriptions are available at www.ussailing.org. </p><p>1.2 RRS Appendix P, Special Procedures for Rule 42, will apply.</p><p>2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY</p><p>2.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Laser Class, including Standard, Radial and 4.7 rigs.</p><p>2.2 All entrants must be current members of ILCA North America or their equivalent National Laser </p><p>Class Association </p><p>2.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online registration form and fee payment found on the </p><p>Carolina Yacht Club website. Late onsite registration is May 5 and May 6.</p><p>2.4 Coaches shall register with the Organizing Authority.</p><p>3 FEES </p><p>3.1 The entry fee is $100 for entries completed with payment on or before April 30, 2017.</p><p>Competitors who have not paid the Entry Fee by midnight April 30, 2017 will be charged a $20 </p><p> late fee. </p><p>3.2 The entry fee includes water, a regatta souvenir, a Saturday Night Dinner, and Sunday </p><p> hamburgers after sailing.</p><p>3.3 Additional Saturday Night Dinner tickets may be purchased for $20 4 SCHEDULE</p><p>4.1 Friday May 5 Practice Racing 1400 - 1600</p><p>Registration 1800 - 2000</p><p>Saturday May 6 Registration 0800 – 0945</p><p>Competitors Meeting 1000</p><p>First Warning 1130</p><p>Sunday May 7 First Warning 1100</p><p>4.2 Number of races: Six (6). The number of races per day will be determined by the Race </p><p>Committee</p><p>4.3 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning Signal will be made after 1500</p><p>5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS</p><p>The Sailing instructions will be available during onsite registration</p><p>6 VENUE</p><p>The Racing are will be in the Atlantic Ocean east of the Carolina Yacht Club.</p><p>7 THE COURSES </p><p>The courses to be sailed will be described in the Sailing Instructions.</p><p>8 SCORING</p><p>The Low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A2, will apply, modified so that each boats regatta </p><p> score will be the total of her race scores, with her worst score discarded if more than 5 races have </p><p> been completed. Six races are scheduled, of which three races shall be completed to constitute a </p><p> regatta.</p><p>9 SUPPORT BOATS</p><p>9.1 Judges will fly a “Judge” or “J” Flag</p><p>9.2 Coach Boats must fly a designated Numbered Flag. Coach Boats must also remain more than 50 </p><p> yards from the course area except when asked to assist by the Race Committee. All coach boats</p><p> and support boats required to monitor the course channel on a VHF radio and be ready to assist</p><p> with safety when requested.</p><p>9.3 Safety Boats will fly a Red Cross Flag 10 PRIZES</p><p>Full Rig : 1st – 5th , 1st Junior, 1st Female, 1st Apprentice Master, 1st Master, 1st Grandmaster, </p><p>1st Great Grandmaster</p><p>Radial Rig: 1st – 5th, 1st Female, 1st Junior Female 1st Apprentice Master, 1st Master, 1st Grandmaster, </p><p>1st Great Grandmaster</p><p>4.7 Rig: 1st – 3rd, 1st Female</p><p>Road Warrior</p><p>Oldest Competitor</p><p>Youngest Competitor</p><p>First Family – Most family members with best average scores.</p><p>11 SAFETY</p><p>It is strongly recommended that boats carry a towline solely dedicated to towing. The line should be </p><p> at least 25 feet long and ¼ inch diameter. This line should be attached to the mast and ready to use </p><p> in the event of an emergency.</p><p>12 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY</p><p>Competitors Participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4 Decision to Race.
