Time Required: 30 minutes Equipment/Materials Needed: (Only type the props you will be using from the following list:)  Chinese New Year Preschool Book (Type book title and author’s name)  Props: (List supplies as bullets) For example:  8 ½x 11 sheets of the following color papers-2 red, goldenrod, yellow, green  / pattern  lantern pattern  firecracker constructed from cardboard roll  1 bottle liquid glue  1 glue stick  1 Chinese Lion Head/Body Pattern  Crayons, Markers or Colored Pencils  1 paper lunch sack  1 sample Chinese Lion Puppet “Set” the stage: What do you know about New Years? (Encourage preschooler to share what they did on New Years Eve) Well, today I’m going to read you a book about the Chinese New Year. Tell the Lesson Objective to the Student: Today you’re going to learn where to find the title of a book and the author’s name. Purpose: When you learn what the title of a book is and who the author is, then you know what the name of the book is and who wrote the book. Input: Type the book page numbers or description of page of when you are going to have the preschooler point out a prop and place it on the storyboard, count a prop, etc. For example: 1. “Today I’m going to read to you Dragon Dance” (point to title, and author of book as you read it) “The author’s name is Joan Holub.” 2. On the page with good luck papers have preschooler pick up red scroll with Chinese writing and place on storyboard.</p><p>Model: High school student reads the title of the book and the author's name while pointing to it.</p><p>Check for Understanding: Ask preschooler to point out book title, author and illustrator to determine if s/he learned your objective.</p><p>Guided Practice: Example: Hold child’s hand as you guide his/her finger under the title and author of the book</p><p>Closure: “Today I read you a book about the Chinese New Year, now I’m going to show you how to make a Chinese Lion Puppet.” Reflection: Evaluation: You would evaluate how the lesson went when you are finished teaching it.</p>
