<p> Syllabus Daniel King and Kelly Quatrale Pre-K to 8th Physical Education</p><p>Welcome families!!!</p><p>Curriculum PreK- 3rd Locomotor Skills - Skipping, galloping, jogging, bear crawl, crab walk, side step Pathways, levels and shapes Lower extremities: Dribbling with their feet- using the inside and outside of their foot, control Passing with their feet- Using the inside of their foot, following through to a target Kicking with their feet- Making contact with the instep or the laces, following through to a target Mid region: Hula hooping- using various body parts to manipulate the hoop Parachute- working together and using our imagination to manipulate the parachute Jump Rope- learning how to jump rope various ways, Jump Rope For Heart Upper extremities: Underhand throwing- “tick-step-tock”, stepping with the opposite foot Overhand throwing- Point at the target with non-dominant hand, ball up by your ear, step with the opposite foot, throw and follow through to the target Catching- Hands ready, track the ball and bring ball into body Bowling- learning the game of bowling, “tick-step-tock”, low to the ground, follow through to the target 4th-8th Project Adventure- working together for a common goal, social behavior Badminton/Pickle ball/Racquet sport- learning the rules, skills and history of the sport Ultimate Frisbee- learning the rules and skills of Ultimate Frisbee Speed Stacking- using hand/eye coordination and dexterities, Stack Up National Competition Fitness Games- Basic activities that will get their heart rate up, learning about the body and muscles Square Dancing- Social behavior and student interaction, creating their own line dance to perform Fitness Gram- National physical testing Volleyball- learning the rules, skills and history of volleyball Individual long term activities- Personal flexibility, Pilates Golf- learning the skills and guidelines of the sport of golf Traditional PE- Dodgeball, Kickball, 6 Base, Speedball Parent Communication If we see your child is having difficulty in a particular area or they have been unprepared multiple times, we will send home a “notice of concern” form. Please sign the form and return it to one of us. If the concern is not corrected, we will contact again for the younger grades and for middle school, you might see a reduction in their grade for not being able to participate.</p><p>Homework Policy We do not give homework in this class. The class is a hands on, in class, learning style.</p><p>Assessment For the younger grades, we assess the psychomotor and social behavior domains. From 4th to 8th grade, we assess the students through written test/quizzes for the cognitive domain, through observation and formal skills assessments for the psychomotor domain and finally through observation of the students to see if they are exhibiting responsible and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.</p><p>Grading Policy PreK-3rd 50% -Participation- Each class is a 6 point scale; 6 points for their partaking in the activity. 50%- Assessment- Can they perform the skill successful more often than not 4th-8th Grade 35% Exams (cognitive) 30% Skill (psychomotor) 35% Participation Each class is a 10 point scale; 2 points if they show up and listen to the lesson, 2 points if they are prepared for class, 6 points for their partaking in the activity. </p><p>Classroom Management ***Safety violation, potential harm to another student will result in an immediate referral***</p><p>Standard Behavior Issues 1st-Speak to the student on the issue 2nd-Have the student sit out for a few minutes 3rd-Have the student sit out for the period and notify home 4th-Send down to the office and notify home</p><p>Field Trips (Tentative) We do not take field trips.</p>
