A site should not be treated unless mosquito larvae are actually observed. Unless larvae are actually observed without using a dipper, a dip test should be undertaken in order to determine whether mosquito breeding is present.

2. Proper recording of larvicide activies:

A. Streams, storm sewer outlets and drainage ditches.

1. Site should be identified from street address at right angle to site, not parallel.

2. Credit one site larvicided per block worked.

3. Each pothole along stream course does not constitute a separate larvicide site.

B. Ponds and Standing Water

1. Site should be identified from street address parallel to site.

2. In general, credit one site larvicided per body of water per street address.

3. A series of small potholes all at the same street address does not constitute separate larvicide sites.

C. Bar Ditches – Roadside ditch near curb or should of road & running parallel to road & usually extending along entire block.

1. A ditch should be identified by block number of the street running parallel to ditch.

2. Credit one site larvicided per block larvicided per side of road.

3. Potholes in ditch do not constitute separate larvicide site.

Examples of Proper and Improper Recording:

1.
