<p>Extracurricular activities and special events</p><p>1) During the study the students of our school go on/ make/take a couple of Field Trips every year</p><p>SÚRAO = RAWRA= The Radioactive Waste Repository Authority. Cementation plant/ mill in Radotín-Lochkov </p><p>Incineration plant in Malesice – there is the highest (smoke) stack in Prague 180m high, four incinerators burn 310,000 tonnes of solid waste per year </p><p>Water treatment works/ sewage treatment plant/ waste water treatment plant in Bubeneč</p><p>Sugar refinery in Dobrovice - This, one of the oldest plants of its kind in Europe, was founded in 1831 by the Thurn-Taxis noble family. Today the Dobrovice Sugar Refinery, the largest manufacturer of sugar in Central and Eastern Europe, has a daily output of 1800 tonnes. Local Museum presents the sugar production history in the Czech lands from its beginning, the tradition of the Czech distillation industry and the development of sugar-beet cultivation which started in Bohemia more than 200 years ago.</p><p>Dump/ landfill site in Ďáblice - a place where large amounts of Prague´s waste are taken</p><p>Wind power station in Pchery Solar power station in Uštěk Eco-technical Museum in Bubeneč </p><p>Lovochemie, a.s. in Lovosice is the largest producer of fertilizers in the Czech Republic.At present Lovochemie, is focussing on the production and sale of solid/liquid nitrogenous and compound fertilizers. A significant part of the production is exported to western markets. Products: Nitrogen is the most important plant nutrient. Lovochemie produces fertilizer types commonly used on European markets, suitable for basic and additional fertilisation. The group of nitrogen fertilizer consists of types based on ammonium nitrate , calcium nitrate, and liquid fertilizer. </p><p>Staropramen Brewery is the second largest brewery in the Czech Republic, situated in Smíchov. It was founded in 1869 and the brand name Staropramen, literally meaning “old spring,” was registered in 1911. Its products are exported to 37 countries across the globe, mostly in Europe and North America. The brewery's flagship product is Staropramen, a "ležák" or premium beer lager of 12 degrees. </p><p>Brewery U Fleků – a museum of the brewing industry- brewing industry machinery, tools and tanks are on display. The most interesting part of the museum is its Renessaince Room where malt was dried by hot smoke emanating from burned wood.The beer, Flekovsky Tmavy Lezák 13° ("The Flek Dark Double Lager at 13°P"), also known as Flekovská třináctka ("The Flek Thirteen"), is brewed on the premises and is not available anywhere else. </p><p>Zentiva N.V. is an international pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and markets modern branded generic pharmaceutical products. The Company has leading positions in the pharmaceutical markets of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Turkey.</p><p>2) We also go on school visits to many museums and libraries: Municipal Library, Technical Library, Museum of the city of Prague, Museum of Police, Museum of Aviation, Jewish Museum, Museum of Gasworks, Museum of Communism, National Memorial on the Vítkov Hill, Botany Garden, Czech National Bank, National Gallery, Lidice Memorial 3) Specialized lectures on various topics (mostly environment protection, energy, drugs) are held in the school throughout the school year.</p><p>4) We visit some research institutes and universities: Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences, Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry, Institute of Chemical Technology</p><p>5) Some students take part in SOČ, which is a national competition for talented secondary school students in 18 scientific fields. The school round is usually hosted by the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry at Petřiny. The best competitors can be chosen for international competitions. </p><p>6) Some students help with organizing chemistry competitions for primary school pupils at our school.</p><p>7) Our school participates in the international program Eco-Schools. MSSCH is one of 79 schools awarded the title. The program has definitely a positive effect on responsible environmental behaviour of the students of our school. In connection with this program a few successful projects were carried out /are being carried out: </p><p> A school working team - Eco-Schools Committee was set up  Two trees (a lime tree and an oak) were planted on the Petřín Hill  Special bins for separated rubbish were installed in the corridors and classrooms (paper, plastic bottles, cans, glass)  Students learnt a lot about various environmental topics  Small animals in the ZOO are regularly adopted and sponsored from the money raised by the students  Our own Eco-Codex was created  The school team suggested improvements in many environmental fields and successfully fulfilled them  We minimize and sort waste, save energy and water and improve environmental status of our school</p><p>8) Senior students assist in Chemohrátky (amusing chemistry lessons for primary school students), Schola Pragensis (annual exhibition of secondary schools in Kongresové centrum.)</p><p>9) History and literature field trips – Terezín, Kutná Hora, Vienna, Auschwitz, Strž- Čapeks Museum</p><p>10) Theatrical performances and cinema</p><p>11) top social event- the school ball (prom)- ballroom Lucerna, solo dance, a sash, a toast, speeches, midnight performances, collecting money, a sheet, live music, </p><p>12) Open Days three times a year (Nov, Dec, Jan) –expositions, guided tours, visitors, graduates</p><p>13) Civil Defence Day in November, skills, first aid 14) term assemblies in the gym traditional ceremony, students are given prizes for their achievements, both academic and sport , headmaster´s speech 15) SPORT “ fixtures” ( sports events that happen at a regular time and place)</p><p>Christmas Basketball Cup,table tennis tournament, summer sport day (athletics), autumn sport day (games: volleyball, football), chess tournament, Florball League, rafting weekends</p><p>Sport courses: skiing ( downhill, cross-country) in year 1, outdoor activities in year 2 (cycling, rafting, games,...) 16) Youth Theatre Club reduced prices, x number of performances a year, keen theatregoers, </p>
