Comment</p><p>Hatchmen Hatchmen are their to stop injury to personel and damage to cargo.they are in a good position to see a problem starting to occur before the problem gets out of hand.</p><p>Stevedoring Should the guidance material refer to the qualifications (Cert II, Cert III and qualifications Cert IV in Stevedoring) that have been developed for the stevedoring industry?</p><p>As a qualified trainer i would say that unqualified people working on the waterfront will only increase more lost time injuries.a code of practice gives you a set of rules that prevent injuries and damage</p><p>Safety Induction Should the newly developed stevedoring ‘safety skill-set’ be used to skill-set underpin safety inductions?</p><p>Use of checklists Should the safety checklists, which set out examples of the types of hazards, and acceptable/unacceptable ways of handling those hazards, be maintained in the guidance material?</p><p>If the safety induction practice is not in place for the new trainees coming in the industry ,how will they know the correct procedure,eg,unplugging reefers before unlashing or lashing. Without safety guidelines how will the trainees know what is safe and what is not acceptable.</p><p>Comments on the implementation of the national guidance material in each jurisdiction which may have included launches, information and training sessions, and whether it has been useful in the workplace as a resource for improving safety practices.
