Educational postcard mailed to affected establishments.</p><p>January – December 2016 Certified managers complete additional allergen training from an MDARD approved course. (NRA Course available at a cost of $10, $0 for Michigan Restaurant Association Members. Local health, MDARD and industry associations promote and educate certified managers and establishment owners on the training and poster requirements. Regulators distribute free posters to help establishments become compliant. Allergen posters are now available in 7 languages. Posters detailing requirements are also available on the MDARD website. MDARD reviews any new courses that apply to be approved.</p><p>January 17, 2018-December 31, 2020 Write violations when non-compliance found and gain corrections. Cite violations using MFL 2129(2) for lack of training and provide a free poster to establishments as needed. Enforce as a core violation and verify compliance on the next routine evaluation.</p><p>CONSTITUTION HALL P.O. Food safety certified managers at food service establishments (i.e. restaurant, school or hospital inspected by a Michigan local health department) shall do both of the following:</p><p> Complete allergen training- Beginning January 17, 2017 through January 17, 2020, each food service establishment, shall have at least one certified manager that has also completed additional allergen training approved by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD). An allergen training program certificate of completion is recognized to be valid for 5 years from date of issuance. Approved courses are listed on the MDARD webpage. </p><p> Post an allergen poster in the establishment staff area- from January 17, 2015 until January 17, 2020, shall display in the staff area a poster developed and approved by the department relative to food allergy awareness that includes, but is not limited to, information regarding the risk of an allergic reaction, or post the information from the poster in a different, readable notice in the staff area. Who is exempt from the allergen requirement?
