Interactive Notebook and Classroom Guidelines

Interactive Notebook and Classroom Guidelines

Mr. Bautista’s Interactive Notebook Guidelines: An example

 What materials do I need? 1) Spiral notebook (Must be college-ruled 8 ½ by 11; 1 subject, preferably 5-Star) 2) Pencils and/or pens (Obviously!) 3) Many glue sticks (You will see that we will use them often) 4) Color pencils or crayons

 What is the purpose of the notebook? The purpose of the interactive notebook is for you to become a responsible, creative, organized, and independent student. Interactive notebooks will be used for all homework, class work, notes and other activities. In essence you are creating a history book for you. Be proud of your notebook.

 How will my notebook be graded? Notebooks will be checked periodically for completeness (usually at the end of a unit). All work should be included in the notebook, even the days when you are absent. Each assignment in your notebook will be graded individually. In addition, your notebook itself will get graded based on appearance, creativity and organization (HOW IT LOOKS!). You are getting points based on how organized and creative your notebook is.

 What is expected of the work of my notebook? 1. All your work must be in order so I can easily look for it. 2. Each page in your notebook must have a title page in large letters. 3. Everything must be written in complete sentences (unless I tell you otherwise). 4. All handouts must be completely glued down correctly. 5. Your notebook must be organized (pages must be in order, you may not cut pages out).

 What happens if I’m absent? You are missing 20 years of history when you are absent. It is important for you to be on time and to be in class. Absences do not excuse you from your classwork. You must complete the assignments you missed. First ask a friend, and a classmate before you ask me for the assignments you missed.

 What if I lose my notebook? DO NOT LOSE IT! If you do, you will have to make up all the work you lost from the last notebook check and you have to buy a new notebook.
